Anne Kenney

Anne KenneyAnne Kenney is currently the Carl A. Kroch University Librarian at Cornell University Library. She is also a board member of the Association of Research Libraries and a Board Member of Tompkins County Public Library Foundation. Kenney has co-authored three monographs, the first with Oya Rieger, Moving Theory into Practice: Digital Imaging for Libraries and Archives, a winner of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) Leland Prize for writing of superior excellence and usefulness; the second with Stephen Chapman, Digital Imaging for Libraries and Archives; and the third with Steven C. Hause, Women’s Suffrage and Social Politics in the French Third Republic. Kenney is a past president of the Society of American Archivists, and has served as commissioner of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (National Archives), been a part of the National Science Foundation/European Union Working Group on a Digital Preservation Research Agenda, was a member of the Clinton/Gore Transition Team, and has testified before a Senate subcommittee on government affairs.

Kenney worked for Cornell University from 1987-2001 as the Associate Director of the Department of Preservation and Conservation. From 2002-2006, she served as a University librarian for instruction, research and information services. Kenney has created standards for the digitization of library materials that have been adopted by JStor and the Scholary Journal Archive. Kenney is the chief academic administrative officer of Cornell’s libraries with a budget of over $50 million.
